Staying Healthy this Christmas

Santa is coming!!! Christmas is one of the best times of the year but can take its toll on our waist line as we adopt the “well it is Christmas attitude”.

It’s certainly not the time to be worrying about counting calories, we don’t want to the joy taken away from the festivities by obsessing how long it will take to burn off a mince pie! Here are some tips to get you through the festivities late nights and overindulgence that is inevitable but enjoyable over the Christmas and New Year period.

Start as you mean to go on

Breakfast really does set you up for the day. Porridge is a great, versatile breakfast that stabilises your blood sugars. Add some of our delicious protein powder for a protein kick that will keep you fuller for longer!

Stay Hydrated

If you’re planning on a big night in/out (depending where you are in the country) remember to get plenty of water before and the day after. Between 6-8 glasses of water can help to combat the dehydration from alcohol. Even if you aren’t having a heavy night, staying hydrated is great for your skin and can help us to stop over eating.

Snack it up

Don’t be tempted to skip meals or “save calories”. A well-timed snack before heading out can stop you going a bit mad at the buffet table or ordering 90% of the menu at dinner. It doesn’t have to be a lot, try a couple of boiled eggs with spinach or banana and peanut butter sandwich.

Get a shake down you or add a scoop of protein powder to a smoothie for a great pre-party snack.

Hangover be gone!

Again, don’t skip meals to make up for calories in alcohol! Not eating before drinking can make you feel so much worse the day afterwards as your body is missing out on valuable nutrients when it needs them most. Eat something packed full of nutrients, drink plenty of water and try and stick to one type of alcohol. We all know how mixing drinks can leave us feeling like we have been hit by a bus and left out in the sun for a week. So stick to what you know.

80:20 Rule

We keep saying it, but don’t punish yourself by skipping meals. The 80:20 rule can still work over Christmas. Make sure you fill your boots with delicious, nutritious food 80% of the time and still enjoy what the festivities have to offer. Don’t feel guilty and enjoy it!

Thankfully, we have some amazing stuff up our sleeves too to help you enjoy Christmas! The body wrap kit when you need to drop a dress size in an hour, apple cider vinegar for some crazy fat burning and of course- skinny juice! The drink a day with magical properties that literally melts fat.

Have a happy Christmas and New Year!

xx
